How bad of a decision was this?

Postby Zito is God » Mon Feb 27, 2006 7:36 pm

Ok, so last year when I had my prospect draft I knew NOTHING of the minors. I mean 0. I didn't know who Felix or Delmon were! Seriously! :)

I was given the 2nd overall pick with Felix gone. I didn't really know what I was doing and I know I should have taken delmon but I knew minimal stuff and instead took Prince Fielder. How badly do you see this affecting my team in the long run (dynasty league)?

Any expanded comments would be greatly appreciated :). ;-D

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Fielder will still be solid, but Delmon has the chance to become a top star like a Vlad or so. Fielder can turn into a top 25 or 30 pick in the future where as Delmon can be a top 5 pick or so. You have not killed your team, but I think come 2007 and beyond you will look back on it and cry a bit.

I'm crying already, my 2nd pick was JJ Hardy :,-(

(I got Olsen in the 3rd though so I guess that was nice)

fielder will produce for you this year but after the 2006 season young will surpass fielders numbers.

I like Fielder a lot...not bad really. At least you didn't pick Hanley Rameriz.

Well, you picked three guys that will be spending their entire 2006 in the majors. So, I think you did fine.

The best thing is that you learned from it. You realize how much more research you need to do and seem to be seeking it out. Let me throw you this website, just in case you haven't seen it. It helps me out immensely regarding prospects.

It's almost like picking between apples and oranges, it shouldn't be a choice that will come back to haunt you or anything. You took the power hitting 1B over the potential 5-cat OF, overall both have great potential.
