Where do you stand on Rolen?

Postby kemper5 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 3:23 pm

To me, he's one guy Ive seen all over the board projections wise..Ive seen his 3rd base rank anywhere from 5th to 15th. We all know what he's done in the past pre injury and his pontial, but are all to well aware of his horrible injury and surgeries in 05.. This year will he return to his great levels of the past, be a flop or somewhere in the mediocre middle of the pack?

I hope to get him in the 8-9 round range. I would feel better about him if he was hitting better pre-injury last year.

i think he will be somewhere in the middle of the pack of 3b's. every thing i have read so far says that while the cards will take it easy with him early he is healthy and feels good. i have even read that he feels as good as he has in years (that shoulder had bothered him for a while). still, i have a somewhat muted projection for him

.280,26hr,100rbi,90runs

thats not really anything special by 3b standards.

I to do not think he will get to his #'s pre 05 either. Those #'s you brought up would put him in the Melvin Mora, Adrian Beltre range. That is probably where he may land.. 9-12th ranked 3rd bagger.. Anyone else?

What did Mora do to be insulted? Beltre will not come close to psoting Mora's numbers barring a return to the juice.

I agree with JD on everything with his projections...the only think I could see is maybe a few more RBI's if the Cards lineup really gels and maybe a slightly higher BA if he has good protection (I'd say .295 would be the tops though).

If I get .285/28/95/105 from him I'd be thrilled.

The last month he was healthy, his numbers were very solid. He just had a terrible start.

I like him to be a solid player this year, and a good value in the 8-9 round.

There was some scuttlebutt going around here about a wind tunnel they've put in the new park, aimed right at the arch for BaseballTonight!! That might help him out but it's sort of hard to guess about that stuff. McDonnell Douglas/ Boeing were big in St.Louis a few years ago though... :-?

The injuries scare me a bit more than the crap...

the injury worries and frankly the poor player before also. he clearly peaked in 04 and i wouldnt expect anything better than his 03 putting him in the middle of pack.
