Oh great. The one thing the sox really need this season is a big-name, big ego guy who swings for the fences, strikes out a ton and is awful on D.

Works for me...esp if they trade a pitcher under a 3 year contract for it. ;-D

i dobn't see Soriano going to Boston at all, but unless Vidro goes down in ST or soon thereafter, I don't Soriano staying with the Nats.

ESPN radio is reporting that the deal being talked about is Soriano for Clement.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

There is a lot of rumor swirling around this. The hosts in boston are relentless when it comes to speculating. One went so far as to say that if the Sox manage to get rid of Clement's salary that it points to some under the table verbal agreement between Clemens and the Sox.

Honestly it can get tough to listen to...too much unsubstantiated rumor. The one part I definitely believe is that the Nationals are looking for pitching from the Sox.

I just can't see a fit for him on the team and his defense is atrocious. If all it takes is Clement though....

Yeah, but what happens to Loretta? They gave up too much for him to just be a bench player, but the Nats obviously don't need him. Hard to say.....

IF they get Soriano and IF he agrees to play OF (LF or RF), that allows the Red Sox much more flexibility in looking for a trade opportunity for Manny.

I am NOT saying that Soriano's bat would be adequate to replace Manny's bat, I am saying that having Soriano's bat makes the loss of Manny's bat more palatable.
