Jun 30 Acevedo has been placed on the bereavement list by the Toronto Blue Jays. The righthander is expected to miss the next 3-7 days, as he attends the funeral of his grandmother in Chicago. Once he returns to the team, Acevedo likely will take over as closer, replacing Cliff Politte, who is on the disabled list with a strained pitching shoulder. Jason Kershner takes Acevedo's spot on the roster.
Advice: Since signing with the Jays earlier this month, Acevedo has allowed just one unearned run in three relief appearances. He notched six saves with the Yankees earlier this season.

Southerner, that post was put up Monday morning, before the announcement by the Jays that I put up before.
"One of the teams represents truth, justice, the American way, and underdogs everywhere. The other represents George Steinbrenner!" - U.S. News and World Reports columnist John Leo on the difference between the Mets and the Yankees.

The Fanball post on the closing committee was made before Tosca announced after last nights game that he was giving Acevedo the first shot.
