Should add/drops be limited?

Postby B.O.S. Owner » Mon Jun 30, 2003 10:29 pm

I play in a 10 team h2h sportsline league with weekly lineups. A recent strategy being employed by a team is to add/drop each week with the hope of getting 6 or 7 two start pitchers inhis lineup. Does the strategy skew the competitive balance? What are your experiences with it, i realize that it is a common strategy? what about limiting roster moves....god idea or bad idea? thanks for your input.

Last year in a H2H league I had two pitchers that I dropped each day to get pitchers who were starting the next day. I ended up taking first place. It works because you take wins and k's almost every week. I will never play in a league like that again though, it wasn't fun or realistic. I'm in a H2H league this year with limited transactions set at 20 and it has been a blast playing. You really have to think out your moves.

We had unlimited drop/picks last year. The top three finishers had far and away the most pick/drops. We changed it this year to a limit of 40 moves for the season. It makes the game more interesting and puts more emphasis on drafting well. We also charge $0.25 per pick/drop and $0.50 per trade.

In H2H leagues there has to be a limit on transactions or it's no fun. I won't play a H2H league with unlimited transactions.
