Alright... so I got admitted to Long Beach St yesterday. Which is pretty cool because it's becoming a hard school to get into with so many applicants. So I read the whole acceptance letter...
The third paragraph starts...
"As you might expect, this admission offer is provisional until we verify your satisfactory completion of all requirements. You must complete all courses in your senior year with grades of "C" or higher, successfully complete all course to meet the full CSU 15-unit subject pattern rior to your high school graduation,..."
Yeah... I got a D+ in AP Calculus first semester, but managed a 3.4 GPA for the semester. I feel confident that I can pass the class second semester with a legitimate shot at a B...
My one question is... Will this one grade going to keep me out of Long Beach St? (not that I have my heart set on going there...)
Well you sent your first semester transcript to Long Beach State when you applied and they still accepted you, so I guess this means second semester only.
If you are retaking the class second semester than the college will not even care about you first semester grade, it pretty much disapears and is replaced by the new grade.
But that being said you need to get a C or better in the class this semester or yes you could easily be screwed.
(if it makes you feel better I am positive of this, I am a high school teacher who deals with a great deal of college admissions.)
I would imagine youd be fine.. They already saw your first semester grades and accepted you after that.. if you improve im sure youll be fine.. most schools just dont want to see someone go from a 3.4 student to a 2.0 student because they got into college
Unless they have a ridiculous number of applicants this year they will overlook it based on other achievements. Its like when students with a 2.2 get into colleges with a 2,.5 requirement. They overlook it because of your ACT score or extra curriculars and so on...
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
I agree with BG. Talk to your counselor, or the college directly and get your answer.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
