Prospect Draft

[NY Yankees Fan 2004]

THis is gonna be my first prospect draft! It will be 3 rounds and I have the #7, 14, and 27 picks..

10 team 5X5 roto league with 10 keepers. My prospects do not count as keepers and I get them for atleast 2 years without having to use them as 1 of my Keepers. If I do not activate them this year than Its 3 years before I make that decision

The Prospects that I got last year:

Jose Capellan-SP-MIL
Mark Teahan-3B-KC
J.J. Hardy-SS-MIL

The following prospects were taken last year

2. Hanley Ramirez-OF-Fla
3. Joel Guzman-SS-LAD
4. Matt Cain-SP-SF
5. Delmon Young-OF-TB
6. Prince Fielder-1B-Mil
7. Jason Kubel-OF-Min
8. Andy Marte-3B-ATL
9. Lastings Milledge-OF-NYM

Everyone else is left
Who should I be looking to take? I would like to be able to grab one potential future stud pitcher

I took over this team in November. This is what I ended up with. Prospect are players with less than 150ABs and less than 50IP

Liriano and Verlander are both considered prospects

Those are ugly prospects my friend.

If those 9 are the ONLY ones that are taken I would grab Hermida in a second. I mean RIGHT now, don't look back:).

I assume Felix had more then 50 IP (too lazy to check).

If hermida is unavailable Liriano might be a good pick as well. It all depends on your team and what you need more. Wood might be good if you have a great starting rotation already, if not Liriano is the way to go.

Ah well since your using rookie standards for AB's and IP, that leaves quite a few left. Since you have the 7th and 14th pick, you should be able to grab 1 potential top end pitcher and possibly another with upside that isn't elite yet. The names to look for would be:

- Liriano
- Verlander
- Billingsley
- Lester - not really in the top 3 class yet, but could be. could snag him with the 14th pick

There is a good chance one of them will be left for the 7th pick in the draft.

I'd go after Jeremy Hermida now...but I like Hybrid's choices too...and don't forget about Justin Upton.

In that case I'd look for Billingsley, Liriano,
Verlander, B Wood, Justin Upton, Alex Gordon, Billy Butler

Grab Liriano IF hermida is gone, then with your 14th I'd go Wood if hes there. If not then Gordon and then Butler.
