This is a much easier question than Joe Jackson. No way, no how, not a chance. Betting on baseball while you are part of the league is the #1 unforgivable offense in my book.

He wasn't found guilty because he never went to trial. His complete confession and total lack of remorse is plenty good enough for me to not debate it. At least in Jackson's people can play the ignorance card, but in Rose's case he knew what his confession meant. The same as he knew what denying the allegations for fourteen years was all about.

I'd vote early and I'd vote often. Pete Rose played balls to the wall nine innings a game, 162 games a year.

I don't really care if he gambled on baseball, so long as he never threw a game, and I don't care that he suffers from some weird psychological constipation that evidently makes it impossible for him to admit that he did gamble. He has the most hits in major league history. He played the game hard and pure. He's a legend. He's been sufficiently censured. Put him where he belongs.

Rose's accomplishments are already in the HoF. He does not deserve the honor of being there along with them.
