A player in my Yahoo league dropped R. Oswalt. He posted a message asking everyone not to pick him up because it was an accident. He also has 3 other players on th DL and the drop freed up a roster spot. Maybe it was an accident but maybe it was a shrewd move to grab a player for a few days and keep Oswalt. Anyway i have high waver priority and i want to pick him up but i dont want to be the league dillhole so what should i do?
Since when do we care, what other people think of us??? No, but seriously....normally I would pick him up right away, cause accident or not, he dropped him...usually that means: TOUGH LUCK! But if you pick him up and everybody starts hating you, that's not cool either, because you can't get any trades through anymore....That woul suck too. But if somebody else picks him up, you missed out on a good chance to improve your lineup. I'd probably pick him up and offer him in a trade to that guy....
My advice? Pick him up and trade him back to the guy for a player to make up the waiver priority you wasted. Somebody decent, but not a Roy Oswalt type. Better yet, post what you're going to do before you do it, and tell him it's for his own good.... you don't want some bottom feeder capitalizing on Oswalt.
Does the high road not appear on fantasy maps?? It's simple, just do as he asked. A typo isn't grounds for screwing with a guy's roster or bettering your own. If the true motivation for picking him up is to make sure he gets to keep Oswalt on his team, you'd pick him up, lose your waiver position, and give him back for a bench player with no fantasy value. Good deeds cost the doer of them.
What a coincidence, In our league an owner dropped Nomar by
mistake. He is in 3rd place and has posted telling us it was a careless error. The owner with number 1 waiver priority is
not active due to illness. Our commish is going to contact him
and ask him to pick up Nomar and trade back for a lesser player.
There is almost no chance he would clear waivers in our league,
one owner of the "card laid, card played" school. Frankly he has a
point, it's not like Yahoo doesen't give you a chance to not screw up.
Is this a public or a private league? If it's a private league, the commissioner has the ability to bypass the waiver system and put Oswalt back on this guys roster if he would turn commish control on temporarily for him to do it. If he doesn't want to turn on commish control, the commish can still bypass waivers, put Oswalt on his roster and then trade him back for garbage player.
If its a public league and you already have waiver priority, I would work out a deal with this guy where you claim Oswalt and then you trade him back to him for a bench player or other player he's not using that would be useful to you.
