School's out for ... curling
By CP
ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- Schools across Newfoundland and Labrador will be closed this afternoon to allow students to watch Newfoundland's Brad Gushue compete for Olympic gold in the men's curling final.
Gushue's team, which is based in St. John's, beat the U.S. 11-5 in Wednesday's semi-final and will face Finland's Markku Uusipaavalniemi.
If Gushue wins, it will be the first Winter Olympic medal won by a Newfoundlander since Dwayne Norris won a hockey silver in 1994 in Lillehammer.
Newfoundland Education Minister Joan Burke said buses will be sent to all schools after lunchtime to bring the students home.
