A Question on PRONK.

Postby BronXBombers51 » Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:30 pm

My 10 team non-keeper league has the following lineup requirements...

C
1B
2B
3B
SS
OF
OF
OF
UTL
UTL
UTL
B
B

With 3 utility spots to fill, does Hafner's value raise at all? Maybe it's a stupid question but it seems that with that many UTL spots to fill, Hafner might get bumped up a bit on draft sheets. Thoughts?

Id definetely bump him up with those roster requirements. Normally Hafner's DH only eligibility limits the position flexibility of your team but with 3 Util spots it wont have that same effect.

Is it H2H? With that many U slots, I would think his value would only go up.

Roto 5x5. Sorry I didn't mention that in my original post.

Even with two Util spots he is a great bet. Draft him, leave him there, and enjoy the rewards.

Here's something I just read on CBS Sportsline.com

CBS Sportsline wrote:Latest News
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Indians manager Eric Wedge would like to get Travis Hafner playing time at first base in order to get Victor Martinez in the lineup as the designated hitter when he's not behind the plate. "It's tough taking Victor's bat out [of the lineup]," Wedge said.

Fantasy Analysis
Wedge wants to decrease the number of innings Martinez sees behind the plate and will utilize Hafner at first base when V-Mart serves as the DH. The chance that Hafner could have first base eligibility makes him even more valuable in drafts

If this is true Hafner's value is going to seriously rise anyway.

Don't think it makes much of a difference. It adds a bit more roster flexibility, but value is value and most Util spot hits tend to be OFs or 1bs anyway (deep positions). You might nudge him over two or three players on the board that are about equal in value to him, but that is likely it imo.
