B.J. Upton no longer a top prospect?

He's still a top prospect. He isn't on a number of lists anymore because he lost his rookie eligibility.

Doooooooooo it!!! Doooooooooo it!!! He is easily a top 10 prospect if he was still rookie eligible. I think he'll stay at SS and if he does he is going to be a top SS in the MLB offensively maybe not deffinsively but, this is fantasy and unless your counting Fielding % then who the heck cares. You can't keep him out of the majors for long

In today's BA Chat, Jim Callis that if B.J. still was eligible for the TOP 100 list, he'd put him above his brother Justin, who was ranked #2.

my dilemma is that his salary is $3....and I would have to sign him to a contract to keep him past this season (which he could spend in the minors)..a contract is $3 per year added on so he would cost me 9 per to have him for three years...would he be starter worthy for most of that time???

Damn straight hes worth that. I have him at $5.00. I can keep him this year at that but if I had to put money on him this year to keep him I probably would put 3 extra years on him at least which would make him $20.00 ( $5.00 per year ). I have him as one of my keepers so if he starts in the minors I have to find a shorstop to replace him after the draft.In my AL only there usually isn't much left. But Its worth the deadspot to wait for this dude.

If you are waiting for him to play ss, you are probably going to be waiting a while. He cannot play the position at this point.

He'll play the outfield for the majority of his career. he simply cannot field, his defense is horrid...at best.

This is a big year for Upton in the field. He doesn't want to move, he has practiced a lot in the off-season to get better (the most obvious is him working with the wizard), and the team wouldn't mind using Lugo as trade bait for pitching. B.J. has been saying he is feeling very good in the field now, but these are just words at the moment as he could just continue to butcher routine plays. I basically think this year will determine if he stays at SS or moves off of it.
