Is it time to scrap the bullpen?

I am currently 4th in a 12 team, very competitive yahoo 5x5. I am dead last in Saves--19 total from a pathetic stable including Beck, Rhodes, Nelson, and the recently deceased Lyon.

Should I just cut or try to trade all these guys and focus on Offense and starters? I am 15 saves behind the next closest guy, and don't see myself catching up. I would have to screw over another aspect of my stats to get a name closer, which still wouldn't get me to that elusive 2nd point for Saves. I know I have to have a couple of relievers in there at all times. Should I just go with an awesome set-up guy (like Mota or Lidge), since Saves don't matter any more? Or should I scrap the bullpen and move on?

go after guys like Lidge and Santana, and trade Beck, since he is the only one of those guys with any value... then stock up on hitters.

When you say very competitive, do you mean you expect the winner of the league to have less than 100 pts? I'm assuming this is roto.

If the winner has less than 100 pts, then maybe it's ok to punt a category.

If the winner will have more than 100 pts, no way can you punt a category and win.

Yeah, the leader is around 80, with 5 guys around 70. The bigname closers are stocked up on just a few teams, so there basically is no advancing in that category. I have Loaiza, Vazquez, Miller, Ponson, Buerhle, and Randy as SPs. I'm at +60 IPs, so I only start depending on favorable matchups. I'll start looking for Offense.
in trades, or try to package a couple starters for a big name starter.
