I pre-ordered it through walmart.com and got this email today:

Baseball Prospectus 2006: Statistics, Analysis, and Insight for the
Information Age; Format:
Original release date : 28 FEB 2006
New release date : 28 MAY 2006

Is this just a Wal-mart thing and I should order elsewhere or is this just a delay? Does anyone have their copy yet?

man, that's alarming. I went ahead and just requested one from a local bookstore w/ Forecaster and they got it like two days later so I just called them and asked them to put my name in for Prospectus there. I'll report back if I get a call on the 28th if, by magic, they get my copy and call me that day!! *fingers crossing*

February 28th seems way to late to put it out, but May 28th? What's the point of even putting it on the shelves? I really hope that's a typo.

I wish Baseball Prospectus would put the release date on their website. You have to link to Amazon and then look at publisher notes to know when it comes out.

I agree that it's totally ridiculous to do whatever they are doing, and I have to suspect that they are doing SOMETHING to mess with whatever mechanisms the publishing industry uses to release and track this info.

Maybe it's a poke @ WalMart or something like that? If it is, I hope that they support independent retailers like our local bookstore so I can drive over there and buy the sucker on 022806 though...

Four days ago, I went to Barnes and Noble, and they told me February 28th. So I think that must be a mistake.
