Playing in a League with some guys at work -- consensus set draft day at March 18. Too early in my opinion. I'm a late drafter. A lot can happen in 2 weeks.
Any early drafters have stories where they benefitted or got burned by being so far out from Opening Day?

Anybody who drafted beltran or RJ early in the first last year.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Why? Nothing happened to them before the season started that would have changed their draft position.

We hold live draft and since its 40/50 mile drive for some of us we are holding on 3/19 to allow for "snowday" . Last year was week later which I preferred. One year we held like 3/3 that sucked guys went down in spring training like they always do.
Nothing like "live draft". Greartest day of the year anymore (im old).

Yes, back in January I got Aaron Miles for $6. Then afterwards the Cards signed Spivey too. I know Larussa plays everybody a little bit, but I need an every day player.

Not much you can do about it. The ideal time to draft is the day before the season starts, but that is not realistic most of the time.
Even worse in auction leagues too. Pay big bucks for someone and watch him get hurt and take out 10+% of your salary.
