First, he had his first kid Monday. Took the day off, came back Tuesday, and, according to the Dallas Morning News, actually knocked the cover off a ball in bp yesterday.
Did anybody get a video of this? I'd believe it if I could see it (eg, the Randy Johnson 'bird' video hee hee...) but would have to think that it would be questionable w/o some video evidence...
Barring a defect in manufacturing or some creative adjustments (like cutting), it is impossible to hit the cover off the ball. No human being could hit the ball with the force required to break the stitches or tear the cowhide from the stitches.

While we're at it I will mention some of the crazy things I have seen in my life with baseball equipment.
I once saw a metal bat shatter, pretty awesome! It was in a Pony league game when I was 14.
I also saw a Babe Ruth HR ball (my friends grandpa gave it to him when he died), it was appraised and everything, but the cool thing was it had a freakin dent in it, where he hit it. It was insane.
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...
Ive broken a metal bat at a pitcher but it was one of the Gen-1X bats which were relatively thin. Ive actually seen more than 3 or 4 of those metal bats shatter. Unless the ball was defective, I dont see the cover getting knocked off...

haha....me too. and few golf clubs as well. i would LOVE to see video of this but i dont know if they tape those BP sessions. maybe someone in the stands got it and sold it or something. anyone finds it please post it up here.
Actually, this is a true story. They showed the hit that did it on the local news and then the ball laying in the grass. The cover didn't completely come off, it only tore. Maybe a total of 4 inches of stitches ripped total. It was on the local news, so ABC, NBC, or CBS might have the footage on their website. Sorry I don't know which channel, but I was not at home when I saw it.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
