This thread contains comments on Ryan Thwaites's Sleeper "JJ Hardy", which was featured in the Cafe's Sleepers section on February 22, 2006. The full article can be read here.
I've been trying to convince myself not to gamble by avoiding the SS position until quite a ways into the draft and then grabbing J.J.
This article didn't help.
Solid writeup though, and does make things very interesting in fantasyland.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
The position is no longer punctuated by the "3 Musketeers" of A-Rod, Nomar and Jeter... and that troika became a quartet if you include Miggy's arrival on the Shortstop scene.
That being said, the position is as deep as it's ever been... maybe even deeper, the athletes just don't possess "star-power."
Guys such as Jimmy Rollins, Julio Lugo, David Eckstein, Clint Barmes, Bobby Crosby, Khalil Greene, and my personal fave'... Jhonny Peralta (doesn't he realize that he spells his name wrong) flesh-out the position; a position that goes maybe 20 deep.
Ryan did a solid job bustin' JJ down to his very roots... and Hardy is indeed a very solid sleeper. I'll toss another one out there- 21 year-old Dodger Brandon Wood. Wood's been scorching hot, and the dude positively tore UP Rancho Cuca Monga to the tune of .323/43/115, with 51 Doubles and 4 Triples . Of 536 ABs, 1 of every 5 were for extra bases, and given that... Wood's SLG % was a pulverizing .672!
The kid will most likely start the year in the minors... but could quickly be elevated to the Bigs' if he maintains such a torrid pace.
All of this will, of course, be included in part III of my positional analyses; "Fantasy Baseball's Shortstops."

You might wanna double check who Brandon Wood plays for before you release "Fantasy Baseball's Shortstops."
I have just finished wiping the egg off my face and while it doesn't diminish his status as one of LA's top prospects... Wood is, of course, an L.A Angel, NOT a Dodger.
Thanks for pointing that out... my embarrassment could've been substantially greater.
