Due to injuries, I imagine both of these guys will get plenty of starts, but anyone know who the guy is right now? Is it Jerome Williams or Glendon Rusch? And if you know who it is, where would you rank him among SP's?
Cubs GM Jim Hendry indicated yesterday that Jerome Williams was behind Glendon Rusch in the rotation and that the Cubs may go without a fifth starter when possible in April.

If Wood has 'issues', of course, you might see both Rusch and Williams and anybody they can drag out of Iowa, Rich Hill types...
I wouldn't be ready to throw in the towel on Rich Hill just yet. He pitched pretty well in AAA before getting the call for all of 10 games last year. He may need another year in the cooker, but I'm sure looking forward to seeing how that turkey looks when its done!
I'd agree w/ that, Baseball Forecaster was still jazzed about him, the problem will be if they have to drag him up to eat innings before he's ready I think. Sure, Prior can do that but if Wood/ Prior/ Zambrano have any sort of issues, it's 'Rich Hill, come on down' w/o the price necessarily being right!
But I think that's at least a year away. Maddux was very ineffective towards the end of the year. Rusch is by far better suited for the bullpen and Williams should be packaged in a deal with Walker.
Rusch is a good Tanyon Sturtze type pitcher. Unfortuantely the Cubs don't have the offense to win behind him like the yankees do... I'd stay away from them both

Prior Zambrano Wood Hill Guzman

I love that rotation too, but by the time Hill and Guzman are ready, it will be Prior's last year in Chicago, then he heads to the sunny beaches of San Diego.
Sorry to hijack, but is Guzman ready this year? I don't think Hill is but do you guys think Guzman is?
Back on subject I think that, although Rusch is better suited as long relief and a spot starter, he is ahead of Williams right now.
