What are the Rangers planning to do with Phil Nevin?
Rangers signed designated hitter Erubiel Durazo to a minor league contract.
This certainly has the potential to be one of the bargains of the offseason, especially with Durazo saying he's fully recovered from Tommy John surgery. However, he's hardly going to be promised a spot in the Opening Day lineup. The Rangers' best offensive lineup would have Brad Wilkerson in center, David Dellucci in right and Durazo at DH against right-handers. Manager Buck Showalter might not be willing to sacrifice the defense, though. Wait and see how Durazo performs this spring before putting in more than a minimal bid. Feb. 21 - 1:41 pm et
Should he win a spot, he could put up some good numbers in Arlington... He seemed to finally come through in 2004 before injuries derailed him in '05. We'll see how he can bounce back. Definitely a good risk.

How's that? He's on the Padres now? It looks as if the Rangers are addicted to DH by committee though. None of those guys will have a whole lot of value. I guess in daily lineup/ H2H, you could probably decode their matchups though?

Adrian is getting screwed by Klesko, Johnson, Piazza, and Mr Tag. there in San Diego.
As for as Durazo is concerned, I am a little skeptical. I was sucked into the Fullmer hype two years ago, and I'm not about to let it happend again.
Poor ZIG...
I'm not sure how to judge Durazo at this point. At first I was shocked that his BA shot up 62 points b/w '03 and '04 considering his BB/SO ratio got cut in half, but his EQA actually showed he had been more consistent than his stats would suggest.
It's just a matter of whether he can stay healthy, and if his time away has hurt him. Like was mentioned before, I'll be watching his ST boxes (and games, maybe) intently.
