Matsui for Dempster/Colon, does it improve my team?

Postby hawkeye2007 » Tue Feb 21, 2006 10:42 am

have been offered Colon at $15 and Dempster $10 for my matsui at $15 should I take it. It would open up an OF spot, and It would give me another closer and I could go for one more top closer, also the guy i trade with would have no closers on his team now. here is my team

14 players at $135 spent and i have 145 on draft day to get 11 players

Ja Giambi10
Ad Beltre 7
Ji Rollins 15

Ma Holliday10
Ge Jenkins 8
Hi Matsui 15
To Hunter 9
AA Rowand15

Ja Isringhausen 23
Br McCarthy 1
Ke Escobar 8
Bo Wickman 3
Er Bedard 1
No Lowry 10

top pitchers available in draft, prior, beckett, lee, kazmir, garcia, clement, lowe, c young garland with closer rivera, wagner, cordero, gordon, jenks, ray, valverde, foulke.

Get Kazmir, Clement, and Rivera if at all possible.

Because you already have a quality OF, I think that trade would benefit your pitching staff enough to take it.

Kaz and Wagner are a couple pitchers, depending on price, that I would consider looking at.

I would make the move...You benefit and you hurt him. Unless he is planning on making another move for a closer

The one I would trade with does not have much money. I am on the edge of doing it to get another starter, although Colon will not get me Ks and maybe injury prone. Yet I get a third second tier closer in dempster, and I can solidfy saves with one big name at the draft. anyone?

I personally dont like the trade much. Id try and trade Isringhausen for something because of his large price tag. I know I never like to spend more than like $15 on closers...if that. SO far this year, Dempster has gone for like $8-$9 usually, not making him a steal. A $15 Colon isnt bad but I havent seen his price tag rise above say $17 or so...but Matsui at $15 is a huge deal. He is a $23+ outfielder making him the best player in this deal. I wouldnt do this and would try and move Isringhausen for something of a better deal...somone you can get some profit from in 06. Thanks for giving your opinion on my team.

I have gotten split votes. one it will help my pitching with colon and dempster than go for a strong OF and closer. or against due to Matsui being solid consistant and I can find a colon/dempster in the draft.

anymore.

Let me preface this with the fact that I've never played this kind of league before, but if you can draft one of those starters (Kazmir?) and a closer (especially if it's Rivera) I don't see a need for the trade quite yet. Just my thoughts, hope this was some help.
