Cliff Politte - R - Toronto Blue Jays Jun 29
Blue Jays placed RHP Cliff Politte on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.
It's uncertain how much time Politte will miss. Aquilino Lopez has struggled a bit lately, but he becomes the favorite for saves while Politte is out. Scott Service should be second in line.

If you have a DL slot available I would hold onto Politte because he's still the closer of a likely 90+ win team. If you don't have a DL slot, I wouldn't hang onto him.

Great news for the Jays rotation. If Lopez does well, I would expect him to hold onto the job.
He can't be worse than Politte can he?

it didn't seem like ANYTHING was gonna get politte yanked from the closer role but this injury, along with a decent performance from lopez (who has looked pretty bad lately), should lock up lopez as the closer even after politte gets back. he certainly didn't do anything to have the job waiting for him, aside from benefitting from several 2 or 3 run leads that allowed him to give up runs and still collect a save. either way, even though they put him on the 15 day DL, shouler injuries are never good and as seen many times may linger and bother a pitcher all season.

This is the perfect antedote for us (former) Lyon owners who were hung out to dry by the Red Sox today.

Perfect timing for me- I had just dropped Rhodes, saw the Rotoworld
note and picked up Lopez. Damn, I hate to check my lineup and see
one of my pitchers with an INF- in this case it was INFREAKING bad.
