To Excited Southerner:
I agree that the war was not fought over slavery. Slavery was rather used as a gimmick by the north to gain support. However, as the war moved on, it actually was a major role of the war.
Anyways. I am sick of southerners proudly displaying their confederate flags. I bet 99% of them don't understand what a Confederation is. Where you one of those people after 9/11 talking about America having to come together for each other and be united? Odds are you were, because pretty much everyone was. Well, The Confederate States of America was all about division. They were loosley affililated states with a weak central government, that would have never succeeded. It would probably have became individual countries. So don't tell me that you love America and then wave the Confederate flag around. I don't care if you are "honoring your relatives," because you are dissrespecting your fellow citizens, because you are essentially saying that you don't want to be affiliated with them. And also, why spend so much time praising a war that was lost? I have lived in both New York and Georgia. You should see the difference in the education of the War between the States.
