I was signed up for 4 private leagues on yahoo. I tried to join another and it said I have reached my team limit. Does anyone know a way around this except for the obvious (creating a new yahoo account)

No way around it. Creat another account. It's simple.

It's not that hard after draft time. I'm usually in 12 or more a year. I cut back this year and am in only 6

I had 16 teams on Yahoo last season. Dog days of winter...too cold to do anything outside...nothing on TV...so I just started drafting teams for something to do. It really is not all that difficult to stay active in that many leagues. Then again...it depends what your definition of "active" is. You can set your lineups 3-4 days out for scheduled pitchers...so technically you need only to check your teams a couple times a week. However...since I am a very active manager and my taste in teams did not vary a hell of alot from league to league...I made alot of the same moves in each league.
The most time consuming part were the days I chose to set all my lineups. It would take about 75 minutes each time to go through my teams and set the lineups in advance. But...I normally spend at minimum an hour a night on the puter keeping track of games...injuries...players...etc anyway...sooo 15-20 minutes longer was not a big deal.
At seasons end...in each league I was always one of the top 3-4 active managers in terms of transactions and if I remember correctly...the worst I finished in any league was 4th (maybe 5th). Having said that....I am not about to do that again this season. I have scaled it back to maybe 8 teams.

I am not sure but I think if any of your leagues upgrade from the free to the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball Plus you would be allowed four teams in the free and four teams in the plus.
I am assuming the you don't want to creat another Yahoo ID because of the hassles of logging in and out all the timw. One thing I would reccomend if you want more free teams is to go ahead and create another yahoo ID on another browser and click the remember me on both that way one Id will always be logged in on each browser. If your primary browser is IE use Mozilla. You could stay logged into both ID's one on each browser.
