My first ever baseball draft. What's my grade?

Postby os_gamejunkie » Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:25 pm

I've been a sports guru for 20 years any started fantasy sports and I'm hooked. Won 1st place in football my rookie season and I'm currently number 1 in basketball. So here's my first ever fantasy baseball roster.

D-Lee, Utley and Rollins were my first 3 picks; I wanted to solidify the scarce positions first with all-around power and speed. Gimme a grade fellas!

C - M. Barrett
1B - D. Lee
2B - C. Utley
3B - H. Blalock
SS - J. Rollins
OF - C. Lee
OF - C. Crisp
OF - J. Gomes
Util - B. Clark

SP - A. Pettitte
SP - J. Smoltz
RP- T. Hoffman
RP - J. Valverde
P - D. Haren
P - M. Mulder
P - J. Blanton

One of the better all around line-ups I've seen. Lots of speed, but I'm going to guess you can do much better than Brady Clark off the WW. Go for an OF who will deliver 20+ HRs from that spot, as more power wouldn't hurt and you don't need the SBs.

Pitching is good, alot of people don't think Pettite will repeat his strong numbers, so him as your #1 is a little shakey. Having another RP who can rack up saves would help, so possibly try and do a trade with that.

Next time include your bench players when posting your team.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

My bench is:

SP - C. Young
SP - T. Wakefield (my last pick)
RP - J. Ducherer
SS - D. Eckstein
OF - R. Baldelli

Thanks for the advice. I might pick up T. Clark for one of my bench players.
