Hi guys. What's the deal with Javy Lopez? He's listed as catcher, but I guess he'll be DH/1B? Is this so?
And, more importantly, if he starts as Catcher (like on yahoo) but becomes 1B/DH, will he lose his eligibility @ C?
The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec reports Baltimore Orioles 1B Javy Lopez is eager to put team disagreements behind him and concentrate on learning his new role at first base. "I feel kind of excited about it because it's going to be a challenge for me," Lopez said. "If I don't do well, I am going to be in trouble. It's a must do well for me. I'll be totally prepared for it."

I agree!... assuming he will be going full time. I assume he isn't catching because of long term affects of last year's injury. Are these affects going to end up affecting how often he plays (whether 1B or DH) this year? If not, he will be kind of like Inge was last year... except maybe more successful. He might be a sleeper...
there's no way you can classify him as a "sleeper" considering he's been considered one of the best offensive catchers and been drafted high, the ast 5 seasons or so, BUT....
he could end up having alot of value for you in the middle rounds. Javy could hit you 25 hr 80+ rbi with a very solid avg, .280 or so, with the potential to hit over .300. javy gets the from me
I thought sleeper might apply to players who are undervalued for whatever reason. Lopez is because he is listed as a catcher, but is actually a 1st baseman, or DH. I guess I'm unclear on what the definition of a sleeper is. (I'm not trying to be facetious here).
He is listed as 98 on the Yahoo O-rank. That's the 8th round in a 12 team league (which I will be drafting in tomorrow). What round would you be willing to pick him up in to get him? I am thinking I might pick him up in the late 6th round or after. Am I overvaluing him? Its last year's injury that I am worried about. Does anyone know if that is a lingering injury?
