There were assassination attempts on just four presidents as well; Andrew Jackson, Harry Truman, Gerry Ford and Ron Reagan. I believe Reagan was the only one who was actually shot and survived.
Theodore Roosevelt was shot while running for the Bull Moose party in 1912.
FDR was shot at, the assassin missed and killed the mayor of Chicago, Anton Cermak, though because the murderer was an Italian immigrant, it is believed that anti-gang Anton Cermak was the actual target.
Samuel S Byack tried to hijack a plane and fly it into the White House to kill Richard Nixon, unfortunately, he neglected to notice that a plane cannot take off with wheel blocks still in place.
In 1979 a man was arrested in the same building Jimmy Carter was speaking in with a pistol. He claimed he and an acquaintince were diversions so that Mexican snipers could assassinate Carter.
Terrorists in Kuwait tried to detonate a car bomb and kill the first president Bush while he spoke at the University of Kuwait. It was defused by Kuwaiti police.
In 1994, Frank Eugene Corder flew a Cessna into the White House, crashing it into the South Lawn, striking the West Wing. Clinton was away from the White House at the time, as it was going through renovations.
And in 2005, a Georgian (the country) man, Vladimir Arutinian, threw a hand grenade at President Bush while he was speaking in Georgia. It landed a 100 feet away, but failed to go off.
Those were the ones you missed. Sort of scary to think of all the attempts out there.
