I didnt say UNC was better, I said they have better Pitching. You cant deny that. With 2005 Player of the Year Andrew Miller and first team all-american Daniel Bard, they are good. And Florida has Pitching. Something tells me it takes more than just a good offense to be Ranked #2 in the Nation.

And something tells me, that just b/c youve never heard of the Clemson pitching staff.. (It is BETTER than UNC's), it also takes something to be RANKED #1 in the country.. #1 man.. come on.. give them respect, I think the guys at baseball america know whats going on. Clemson >> UF> UNC

Clemson has the same pop in the lineup and better pitching than UF.. and when it comes to UNC, they have 2 good starters, we have 4, including arms up and down the pen, and a new transfer from Maine who was conference player of the year in the A-10, or whatever conference he played in now our closer.. that right there says something... Oh did I mention that our 2b SOPHOPMORE ALL AMERICAN Taylor Harbin, hasnt played yet this year.. he's got 1 AB.

Simply put. Clemson is #1 for a reason. They don't have the flashy names of the UNC's Bard and Miller, and they dont have the offensive guys of LaPorta.. we have Harbin.. and we will also destroy Mercer this weekend who beat UF.. if you wanted to know that.

Bard's Career:

15-9, 4.02 ERA, 145 K's in 184 Innings, 75 BB's.. hmmm suprisingly average to me.

Josh Cribb: (Clemson's THIRD starter)

13-7, 3.65 ERA, 175 K's in 165 Innings, 45 BB's.. K/BB ratio is better 3.8/1.

Bard's is 1.9/1.

Lets go to Ace's:

Miller

14-7, 2.96 ERA, 192/100 K/BB's = 1.9/1.. surprisingly average yet again.. but the ERA is dirty.

Clemson's Ace, Jason Berken

9-3, 2.90 ERA, 81/43 K/BB's = 1.88 ... So.. here's the question.. agree that Berken=Miller, and Cribb> Bard..

If we go further.

Team Stats: Both teams lost minimally off of rotations:

Clemson: 3.64 ERA, .270 OPP. AVG, 500/223 K/BB's = 2.24/1
UNC: 3.17 ERA, .265 OPP. AVG, 496/232 K/BB's = 2.13/1

So, I dont see your arguement that UNC's staff is better, sure, better ERA. But, compare head to head, who would be facing each other, and Clemson easily wins that arguement.

Cool - some ACC baseball talk.

NC State goes to 11-1 on the season today .... the one loss being on a 1 run loss on a neutral field to Nebraska.

Use to do the ACC tourney all the time when it was in Greeenville SC - Tiger fans out in full force ... my last tourny was the one at the Durham Bulls AAA stadium.

I'm looking forward to next weekend - NC State hosts UCLA for a 3 game series.

We start ACC play mid March agianst G.Tech then go to Clemson the following weekend.

I dont care about draft status.. look at the numbers of their pitchers compared to Clemson's pitchers.. they FACE the SAME competition.

Clemson's Guy's #'s are better.. HOW CAN YOU ARGUE THAT.

And if Bard is a top 5 pick.. good.. it must be based on potential, cuse his #'s aren't great, and Ive seen him get destroyed by Clemson.

Hey Chitown guy.. florida is looking great.. dropping down the polls like no other.. Mercer first.. (who took 1 from Clemson this weekend).. Mizzou and some other nobody.. AT HOME in a mini tourney.. yeah.. that offense is sure clicking.. they havent done anything.

Not a fan.. Alumni.

And I posted the stats... why Bard is a First Team All American... is a mystery to me..

I dont care if he'll get drafted.. Berken is better than him, better #'s, better potential, and if he stays healthy, no doubt in my mind, he'll be a better pro.

Chitown guy.. how can you fight with the CONSENSUS #1 now...?

I dont get it.

ALL THE POLLS SAY CLEMSON IS #1.. so get over it.

Overall

Clemson >>> UNC >>> UF... changed it this week, because the PRO's did..

Baseball America... USA today.. CONSENSUS #1 BABY, no denying that.

lol. I like you Gator. So you went to school there? did you play Baseball there? But, I think Clemson does have an extremely talented team, but I really like Florida this year. LaPorta is the best hitter in College Baseball. Hands down. And though I agree that Clemson has a good staff, UNC's pitching staff is better. You were arguing earlier that Clemson's Ace is better than UNC's, Andrew Miller. Andrew Miller was the 2005 Player of the Year. Thats PLAYER! Not just pitcher, he was the Best Player.

Ill give you this.. Bard had a nasty summer, I saw him pitch a couple times in the Cape League. As, I am from Cape Cod.

But look at his career #'s at Carolina.. what in these numbers make him a great prospect.. in your eyes? I know, I know.. those same professionals that say Clemson is #1, also say this Bard guy has all the makings of a great starter some day.. however, look at these.
Totals 15-9 W/L,4.02 ERA,32-31 GP/GS, 2 CG,2 SHO,184.2 IP, 167 H, 102 R,83 ER, 145 K, 74 BB, 11 WP.

So, lets break it down.. ERA over 4, in college.. understandable..but can't miss guys like Weaver last year, were in the low 2's, like his team-mate Miller. WHIP up @ 1.3, so, thats a little high, 11 Wild Pitches.. average at college level.. overall this guys numbers are Average.. unless someone knows soemthing I dont.. how is this guy first team all american...? One more thing, his first half season splits, are a ton better than his second half.

THis last comment is for you Chi guy... from Will Kimmey on BA: which on this site, looks like you guys listen to

Q: Chris from Columbia asks:
How about the start of Clemson's Tyler Colvin? 4 HRs already ... we may have found the answer to replacing Kris Harvey's power. It looks like Berken is back to his old form, but are Faris and Cribb good enough to carry this team deep into June?

A: Will Kimmey: So far, so good for Clemson. Well, so long as Taylor Harbin gets healthy for this weekend's games against Charleston and South Carolina. He's the Tigers' best hitter and an important piece of the lineup. Berken's a warrior for me now. He vomited during the middle of his start this weekend (from the flu) and was tough enough to stay in the game and deal against a good Mercer club despite being less than 100 percent. He'll be the difference for the club advancing in June. Faris and Cribb were good enough to take Clemson to within a game of Omaha last year, and there's no reason to expect their years to be worse.
