This scene is so messy I honestly cannot even name the entire thing because they let go and traded for so many guys.
Can someone list the Pirates rotation for me, and if you have the time explain what you think of it? I am looking to see what you expect from Perez, Duke, Maholm, etc...
Thanks.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
Duke - I like him, good stuff, good make-up, nice year.
Perez - He will likely fall out somewhere between his '04 and '05 stats. Definitely will be better than last year.
Maholm - Nice rookie year last year, but I'm not overly excited about him as a fantasy option.
Wells - Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I like him to have a decent year this year under a new pitching coach. That being said, I don't think he's a viable fantasy option unless you're in a super deep league.
Ian Snell, Vogelsong, Santos - The #5 starter is definitely not set as of right now. None of these guys are overly exciting in my opinion.
Keep an eye on Sean Burnett. He's likely to start the year in AAA, still recovering from arm surgery, but he had a nice debut 2 years ago. I like him to be the #5 starter by the All-Star break.
Word is that at this point Ollie Perez is still struggling with his mechanics. I too think his stats will be somwhere between '04 and '05 next year, but I think they'll be a bit closer to '05. In a mixed league, Duke is the only starter worth drafting on that team.

That's a good tip, thanks!!
Is there a source somewhere? I have some early drafts and will probably steer clear of him since he SMOKED me last year but, if he does come around, I may stumble into another league or two...

I don't subscribe to BP, but I heard it from someone who does. Apparently Will Carrol mentions it in his Pirates team health report.

Once again, others are saying essentially everything I would say. I really like Burnett, and I hope he gets another chance to make the big club. He has some good potential.

This is what it says about Perez...
SP Oliver Perez: The Pirates kept Perez from pitching in the 2004-05 Mexican Winter League. Perez responded by getting fat and not pitching. Perez’s motion is so complex that he fell out of sync and never seemed to recapture it fully. He lost a kicking battle with a laundry cart and missed a lot of time, something we’ll expect won’t happen again. He’s looked out of sync again this off-season according to reports and could become this generation’s Jimmy Haynes.
