Its fun to look back on threads but don't go overboard with it. Like it or not Howard was a huge risk this year with his performance against lefties in the minors and majors.

If someone had come here and said that you should draft Hanley Ramirez over Manny they would have caught a bunch of crap too because its simply a bad draft choice... as it turns out that person would have been correct for this season, but you simply cannot ignore the reality of the risk involved during draft day. Same thing with someone who said take papelbon in the 5th round... it would have been a really bad draft choice that worked out just fine.

Hanley has been slightly more valuable than Manny this year from a fantasy standpoint. I didn't say he's a better ballplayer. 153 R+RBI vs 178. 57 HR+SB vs 34 HR+SB. .282 avg vs a low AB .324.

Hanley inches him out in my book, but anyone that said pre season to draft these two around the same time is still making a poor choice, just because in hindsight it worked out does not make it a good draft choice.

While Howard was a good prospect in the minors he wasn't a great one. His big seasons didn't come until he was old for where he was playing.

I expect him to put up good numbers simply because that stadium is a left handed power hitters wet dream, but I'm not big on his actual skill set.

Actually, from all the player analyzers I've seen so far, Manny is about 5-10 spots ahead of Hanley in rank. ESPN is the only one that ranks Hanley higher.
