Does anyone really buy that the Stros are going to do such a huge fan favorite and leader in almost every major offensive category in Franchise history wrong? I don't. I think the claiming he is unfit to play in the majors was designed as insurance so if he can't play up to par in spring training the claim has already been filed. With that said many will pass up on him in the later rounds and I think he will be a steal on a Astros team that should have 5 -20+ Hr producers.

I think Houston is doing EVERYTHING in their power to get Bagwell to wake up, smell the coffee and retire due to injury. The last thing the Stros want is for him and his aging, de-roided body to come back. That Bagwell has refused to take the hint and ge tthe Stros off the hook based on trhe insurance money is actually quite astounding.

I'm trying to be serious. Why would they run off Bagwell if he says he can still play. I realize athletes have an ego but I just dont see it in this case. He has already said in the past if he cant play he will.
This poast weekend at Fanfest he was signing autos and taking pictures and so on. Would you do that for a team that just told you , that you cant play the game good enough? I know this may seem like a crack enduced post but dont pass him up late in the draft.

And Palmeiro swore to Congress he never ever took roids. You believe what everyone says?

Bagwell has long been suuspected of being a juicer. Fair or not that is simply the way it is. He certainly is never going to admit it and sure he may want to play or think he can still play. If you are Stros management, what would you want to do? Stink with an aging vet that is past his prime, grossly overpaid and probably was a roid-boy in his prime or go with Berkman at first and the kid Lane in the OF? Lane will out hit Bagwell now. And he plays the OF, allowing them to keep Berkman and his knee safely at 1b. It is a no brainer for Houston imo, esp if they can get insurance to pay most of the money Bagwell is owed.

Don't bash baggs like this guys. He's my fav. player, and I know he's on the decline, but he's getting a lot of hate in this thread.

As for 20 HR, I wouldnt put it by him with that short porch in left. I don't think he will reach that mark but by no means would it shock me.
