How do you think the cubs are going to do this year?

I think they will get 2nd place only to the cardinals

So many variables. They could concievably win the division, but there is so much that can go wrong that if they finished 3rd behind the Brewers I would not be surprised.

If Clemens comes back I think the best they can do is thrid unless HOU or STL completely crap all over themselves. I suppose the latter could be a distinct possibility given the turnover on the Cards roster and the ineptness of the HOU offense.

Maintained health of pitching staff, including Miller
Solid contributions from Murton and Cedeno
Dempster repeating his numbers from last season
Lee not falling too far from last years numbers
Aramis staying healthy
Pierre hitting for about .320/.370
Neifi getting no more than 75 AB's all season


IF all of those things happen, I think the Cubs will get themselves into postseason play. They might get there without all of those things, but that would take some help from the other teams.



Also, IF Dusty got fired preseason, the team would get about 10 wins better and might be good enough to win the division.

i dont think there really need wood they have williams then they have hill also they have a bunch of pichers that could make it to the show next year if they have a good year

I think the Cubs have a good chance this year to at least make it to the postseason. They have strong pitching Zambrano should have his best year ever this year and Rusch will step it up, Wood and Prior don't get injured to much they will be good there. Adding Pierre will make them alot better at hitting and hopefully they'll do good this year

I expect better results than last year. They finally have a lead-off hitter which makes all the difference in the world. Imagine Lee's RBI total now that Pierre will be on base most of the time. They have power in Lee and Ramirez and I think Murton will provide some of the power that left with Burnitz. They have two good base stealers in Hairston and Pierre. The pitching should be just as good as ever and the bull-pen is stronger than last year with the additions of Eyre and Howry. Having a better pen will lower the pitch counts of the big arms.

Overall I'm excited as I always am at this time of year. I just pray to the baseball gods to give us a year without major injuries.
