...his defensive skills are so spotty that it is doubtful he would be a fulltime C in the ML..he is 27yo so really no kid but does have pop in his bat as he had 19 HRs in 219 ABs last yr at AAA and 24 doubles and 24 HRs in 338 ABs at AA in 04...

a lot depends on your league parameters and pos qualifications...good chance he will play some 1B but mostly LF..he can hit so it depends on how deep your league is as to whether he is an asset or not

....injuries...both years..stress fracture in left forearm..had a bad knee previously

There was talk that he might play LF field and have Olivo start. That's been scrapped now but he must be a pretty decent athlete for a catcher. Anyway, unless you're in a NL-only I really don't see any reason to take a chance on this guy. I rarely carry two catchers and there will be a baseline veteran sitting out there for the taking.
