I know some of you guys know Jay Dee, who worked with Tribe and Slum Village, among others. Talented producer. :,-(

I don't imagine many people here are familiar with his work, but this is a huge loss for the hip-hop community. I heard about this earlier today, and just thinking about the impact that his music has had on my life makes his death even more sad.

RIP

Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.

WhoTF is Jay Dee?

You know, no more ridiculous R.I.P. threads... Rosa Parks, yes. Richard Pryor, ok. Coretta Scott King... I don't even remember there being one for her.

But if we're going to mourn the loss of some Kanye West goon, then you can expect an RIP thread from me for every Obit I read in Sunday's paper.

Oh man...

I remember his Tribe stuff, and I listen to Be regularly. Great production. I'm in a small state of shock right now, he was so young.

RIP J-Dill. :,-(

Edit: Coppermine... Way out of line calling him a Kanye West goon. Not cool at all. :-t :-t

Oh, Wharf-man, It's all good... I'm barely seriously and to be honest, it's actually far more sad to see someone in the hip hop industry die of natural causes rather than a gunshot wound (or wounds).

I see now that he was clearly an influential figure among the hip-hop community and if you'll accept, i'd like to offer my apologies for being so apathetic on the matter.

It's sad when anyone dies, but it's Saturday night, and I'll be Wanging Chung all night long regardless... and I'll even tip my glass and offer a malt liquor (or, more specifically, an India Pale Ale) gift to the man, the myth, the legend... Jay Dee.

Question, is Jay Dee also Jaylib and J Dilla? It's too bad he passed before he could try out J-Funk or J. Duffy.
