You can play blackjack or poker it won't matter too much because you'll be playing 2/4, 3/6, 5/10 or 1/2 NL I think. Personally I recommend 1/2 NL because people can't fish there (especially when you make $30 bets on the flop). I don't know what kind of poker you play (I'm assuming it's Texas Hold'em or Stud), but that might be easier for you to be successful at right away. You have to remember a ton of stuff in blackjack. One final thing. Quit while you're ahead. Set a goal to hit and run when you do. Also set a max you can lose.

Good advice..Poker and Blackjack are max 5$ tables
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Craps is the most profitable and can be the funnest game. Just go on the internet and look for a craps for beginners page. It really isnt too hard to understand, and Im sure they'll be people willing to help you out. It also comes with the best odds of anything at a casino.

If you want to do Roulette, do only the Red/Black or Even/Odd bets. Occasionaly you may feel an urge to put a $1 chip on a number; this usually will mean throwing your money away, but it can be exciting, and if you get lucky, you win $36! But only bet on a specific number once or twice.

Blackjack is fine.

Dont strictly avoid the machines. They are where the casinos make the most money, and have bad odds and such, but can be fun. Perhaps set a limit of like, $5, on penny or nickle slots.

Have Fun!

Casino's pay you 36:1 when the real odds are 38:1 (counting 0 and 00). Red/Black or Even/Odd is 19:18 (against you).If you want to throw your money away then go to the roulette table... it will slowly disappear before your eyes.

Blackjack and Craps have the best odds and are fun. You can count cards at blackjack (don't know how many decks some casinos have) and when the dice are hot... craps can be very exciting.

Holdem is fun, but definitely don't go into a poker room... did you ever watch Tilt? Big mistake...

Yeah, all this coming from a 17 year old... when I turn 18 in a couple months, I'll be ready. (Indian Casinos about an hour away don't serve alcohol so they only require you to be 18)

Most casinos in SoCal are 21+...At least that is what I was lead to believe. I've been kicked out of Hawaiian Gardens before I was 21. Sucked too because I won 2k on a bad beat pot that they do. I lost with Kings full of Aces to 4 Aces.

I was told all SoCal casinos are 21+

Barona in San Diego is 18 (no alcohol because of long windy road entrance)

Morongo in Cabazon Desert (30 minutes from Palm Springs) is 18... don't know why but that's what it is.

Just basically the Indian Casinos except for Pechanga in Temecula...

Play the machines near the aisle late at night. They've been fed the most throughout the night.

I've only lost at roulette once (meaning by the end of the day or weekend or whatever). I think the game is fixed though. I have 2 approaches. One is the hit and run. I slap some money on black/red. Usually I win. Then I find a different table to do the same. And on down the line. I'll do this until I lose one. Then I don't go back to roulette for the rest of the time I'm there.
The other way I play is to camp out at a table for a while. I like to sit closest to the wheel (just superstitious). Then I try to be the life of the table by cracking jokes and being cordially vocal. Sometimes I give reasons for betting a number (ie: "13, that was my Dad's lucky number." looks up at the sky. 13 came up twice in a row!) I just try to make the table fun to be at. Works for me somehow.

Oddly enough I usually lose at Black Jack.
I think (know) the dealers don't deal straight. They pull the 2nd card or put one back. I actually caught one dealer in Vegas pulling 2 cards then sliding one (10) under the shoe.

Good luck and have fun!

Edit:Yesterday, 2/13 my Dad's B-day, I played a scratch off and won twice on one card w/ the number 13.

I had the best experience at a blackjack table once. The dealer was this early 40's woman who was awesome. I was playing with my stepmom and a group of 27 year old college friends who get together every year in Vegas so they don't lose touch.

We were having an awesome time, I had just turned 21 the week before so the guys were totally having a blast with me trying to show me the ropes and all of that.

The dealers daughter came to have dinner with her mom (daughter was like 21 and very hot!!!) Anyway, I started flirting with her, which turned into flirting with her mom (saying things like you're way too young to have a daughter....I dunno who's more beautiful...) She told her daughter she had another 30 minutes until she could go on her break so the daughter just hung out watching our table...

The stoy continues into the next night. My stepmom, dad and I ran into the group of guys and we all decide to play a table together again. After an hour the lady from the night before rotates to our table to deal. She remembered us of course and I am telling you, she totally hooked us up.

Everytime I said hit, she would pause and say, "are you sure?" What she was doing was letting us know what to do. She would only do this when she had a 10 or face card showing and she saw what the other card was. If she knew we had her beat she would warn us by saying, "are you sure?" She also would ask us if we were sure we didn't want to hit, if she knew she had us beat.

I have never won as much on anything as I did that night. I don't do too much gambling, but I won like $300 that night at the table.
