Heading to the casino's!

Postby acsguitar » Fri Feb 10, 2006 5:21 pm

Woo .. we have about 20 casino's within 30 minutes of Denver.

They aren't super awesome vegas style but you can play 5$ Holdem, Blackjack, and a bunch of video style poker and slots.

I'm excited cause I've never been.

I'll probably only play the machines because I know no etittiquote (sp?)
when it comes to playing blackjack or holdem at tables.

Any advice?

Oh yea no roulette or craps :-t
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Know your limit before you go in and spend no more. In fact, only take in what you can afford to lose. Leave your credit/bank cards in the car and don't go get them no matter how great your odds you think you have of making up what you lost if you do lose money, which you more than likely will.

P.S. Most places give out free soda, so be sure to take advantage of that. ;-7 :-D ;-D

P.S.S. Good luck.

Get one of the blackjack cheat sheets...

Image

There are better ones online... it works pretty well for me playing online blackjack, but then I suck at the tables. I used to go to Atlantic City once in a while but it's been a while.

Roulette's a huge rip off. Craps is impossible to understand. Video poker is fun, and who can resist a few slot machines.

I hope they have free booze at the one you're going to.

I don't think they let you bring in stuff like those sheets, do they? Heck, they don't even want you counting cards in your own head.

No, they'd probably get pissed off and kick you out if you had it right there at the table, but it could be a helpful reference between games.

If you want to play blackjack just watch a table for 10 minutes before sitting down...and start at a low-limit table. Generally, at these tables there are already a couple of people who don't know what they're doing and have no knowledge of table etiquette, so you wont be the only one pissing people off. If you want to play poker do the same, but be aware that etiquette is much more important than it is at the blackjack table.

Also, if you only plan on going this once, or only going one or twice a year or something, I would advise against the poker room all together. Unless you have experience with some serious poker from home games you will most likely just be giving your money away.

All drinks are free in Shreveport. You're getting robbed if you pay for any of them.

Best thing I can tell you is to have a good time. That's what a vacation is all about, so enjoy yourself. ;-D
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.

Drinks are always free in Casinos, but you should still throw a white chip ($1) at the cocktail waitress. If I were you I'd advise against the slots because that's all luck. You can play blackjack or poker it won't matter too much because you'll be playing 2/4, 3/6, 5/10 or 1/2 NL I think. Personally I recommend 1/2 NL because people can't fish there (especially when you make $30 bets on the flop). I don't know what kind of poker you play (I'm assuming it's Texas Hold'em or Stud), but that might be easier for you to be successful at right away. You have to remember a ton of stuff in blackjack. One final thing. Quit while you're ahead. Set a goal to hit and run when you do. Also set a max you can lose.
