anybody see him as a sleeper this season, possibly bouncing back to closer to his career averages in his second season back at full strength? I know last year was pretty horrific, but a couple years back he was a pretty consistent producer. What do you guys have to say?
I wouldn't look at him unless you're in an amazingly deep league. I say this for 3 reasons.
1. He's not that good.
2. He's a 3B which is extremely deep.
3. He has a short leash on him. Andy Marte is the Indians 3B of the future and he is close to being ready, if not already.
yea you're probably right...that's what my head is tellin me...my heart is hopin he'll bounce back enough to have him contribute to my teams...boone has been one of my favorite players over the past few years, and I'm a diehard yanks fan so 2003 only made me a bigger fan...depressing, but I guess he's done as far as fantasy is concerned
He stuggled poorly after sitting out a year, but then he looked pretty damn good once he got back into the groove come June.
I have always been a fan of Aaron's. I used to love it when his brother would always get drafted 10 rounds ahead him, yet Aaron would still out earn him when the season was over...
I have him penciled in as my starting CI in a 16 team league this year, and am expecting good things from him.
here are his '05 monthly splits

I think he's going to be a below average fantasy 3B this year. 15 HRs or so, maybe 10 SBs, low BA, and not too much else. He's 33 years old with a major knee injury within the last couple of years, his best years are behind him. And he has an x-factor behind him in Andy Marte.
Edit: I mean he'll be 33 yrs old by the time the season starts. He's still 32.
yea marte is the main thing that scares me...it seems boone already has one foot out the door whether he wants to or not...I guess the concensus here is that boone's worth a late round pick as a backup and a sleeper, but shouldn't be counted on as a starter unless it's something like a 16-team league that wrveres is in (nice splits, btw, gave me some more optimism)
If the indians hadn't traded for Marte I'd say he was a solid sleeper. I just don't think he'll play full time all year this year so in a 12 team league he's not worth much. Luckily I play in a 16 team deep roster league so he has some value.
