How can Yahoo improve fantasy baseball?

Postby AdvRider » Thu Feb 09, 2006 7:59 pm

I give Yahoo credit for good work with fantasy baseball – especially for free! But there are a few things they could improve on.

If a good wish list is put together, one of the café mods could email it in to Yahoo … it might result in some improvements.

They do take this stuff seriously. About four years ago three guys from Yahoo visited me at my house (with a video camera even!) and spent an hour talking to me about my likes and dislikes about Yahoo fantasy baseball. This was market research as they prepared to roll out StatTracker and other pay options. Here's one I’d like to see:

In the standings column, offer a filter option that shows changes by the day, the week, and the month in the standings. In other words, I’m up .5 points in RBI, I dropped 2 points in WHIP, my main competitor down 2.5 points in Ks. That would make it muuuuuch easier to assess trends, strengths, and weaknesses and improve competitiveness across the board. Of course they could do that with hockey, basketball, etc., too.

Something I think would be awesome...

Imagine you are in 10th place on April 30th. In the end you finish 2nd by a point. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to see what place you were in on any particular date that season and then be able to see your progress as you rose to the top?

I wish they had a way to allow us to see the league standings on any given date.

I'd like an export to excel or text file from the pre-rankings list, and also for the final drafts results.

I'm sure Yahoo's working on some of your ideas.

Why not just copy and paste it into excel?

How about being able to boot a manager if they're inactive for more than 30 days and being able to invite a new manager to take over.

Sandbox used to boot you if you didn't check your team after 30 days or so. They then let people just take over the dead teams.

Oh Sandbox, does anyone still use them? :-? I used to love them until they bent us over with their horrible transition from free to pay.

Simple Request. Logos.

An option to replace those silly hats and jersies with custom files. I thought they did it when I saw the Yahoo Avatar, but that was some dress up doll.
