So any news on the big tall Texan and how he's recovering from his surgery last summer? I guess he won't be ready right away but will he be throwing in spring training? Taking the mound?
What do you sages think the Cubs will get out of him in 2006?
Sorry, I should have looked before I leapt -- I see on RotoTimes he began light throwing in January with possibility of beginning the season in the bullpen to build up arm strength. Is there any more recent news?
Not every Cub fan, I know a few that are still way too in love with him.
He'll most likely be some other teams headache after this season though.
However, there's a 80% chance that as soon as he puts on another jersey, he will never miss another start due to injury again and consistantly rack up 17+ W's and 230+ K's a season for the next 10 years.

Or he has his best year ever and doesn't get hurt. The Cubs sign him to this huge deal and he never has a complete year again.
Knowing the Cubs luck the second scenario is the most likely.
You have no frame of reference, Donny. You're like a child who walks into the middle of a movie...

the news out of chi-town...
Wood will NOT start the season in the bullpen. He doesnt consider himself an RP. When his arm/shoulder is healthy enough, he's going to AAA to get 4-5 starts to build-up his arm strength.
First off, Wood is likely to be on the DL opening day, which is not good. Secondly, even when he does come back, I wouldn't expect much more than five starts before he blows his arm out again. Finally, he might end up in the BP in July after Dempster pulls a LaTroy and the Cubs have dropped 12 games with ninth-inning leads.
In other words... I'd stay as far away from Wood as humanly possible.
Boy, looks like Cubs fans are really feeling scorched. I didn't expect this much skepticism. Of course a few seasons of Corey Patterson, LaTroy Hawkins, etc. will do that to a man.
