The cloud of smoke that the Scott Kazmir trade and its aftereffects caused have been lifted, and now Petit's true colors are shining like never before. Petit has been lucky that the unforgiving New York media has had a pair of Binghamton pitchers to watch, and one with quite the pedigree. While Floyd Bannister's son is another that got off to a Brad Thompson-like start, it is Petit that remains the better prospect. Yusmeiro has it all: good control, deception, and a knowledge of changing speeds. There are questions about his stuff and about his ceiling, but Yusmeiro should be fine. Think Livan Hernandez (c. 2005, not 1997), and remain the Mets fans of that team ERA.

There is a lot to be excited about with Petit. He is definitely a top 10 pitching prospect. He has been consistantly putting up good numbers in the minors. The AAA outings were uncharacteristic (it takes time to learn new leagues).

I think he will put up Buerhle type numbers (without the Wins). Dont spend too much trying to get him, but he definitely has potential.

I got him in a recent trade and I'm not really depending on him...not for a year or two anyways...but I hope he has a good spring training and does well to some extent this year.

Honestly, he doesn't really compare well to anyone in the majors. In the past I've heard him compared to that young Dodgers pitcher back in the 80's I think. The comparison was mainly for the way they had deceptive deliveries, but I can't think of his name now.

Yep, thanks for thinking of it .... that would of driven me nuts till I thought of it. Though I question if Petit will be that good.
