Has anyone ever seen him pitch? I keep reading he has great results BUT has so-so stuff.....He has dominated at every level and has a great k/BB ratio, great , deceptive delivery yet has JUST OK stuff.

What do you guys think?

thanks

You pretty much know his scouting report. He has great control and deception in his delivery, with basically just average stuff. Many people question how much that will work in the majors, which is why some people aren't very high on him. To me he profiles more as a middle of the rotation type pitcher. Also yeah I have seen him pitch, he more or less hides the ball so you only see it right before he lets it go.

Thanks Hybrid...I can't wait to see this delivery every talks about.....Do you think he gets a spot on Florida's rotation if you were to bet on it?

I think he will battle Olsen for the last spot in the rotation, it likely will come down to who has the best ST. On his delivery, if your expecting something great, you will probably be disappointed. It's nothing like a Willis delivery or something that different, he just has a delivery that hides the ball behind him and makes it hard to pick up.

Anytime you have control like that you have opportunity to be great. I could see him as a #2. But I doubt he will do what he has been doing in the minors.

Honestly, he doesn't really compare well to anyone in the majors. In the past I've heard him compared to that young Dodgers pitcher back in the 80's I think. The comparison was mainly for the way they had deceptive deliveries, but I can't think of his name now.

thanks

I was just looking over his AAA stats and it doesn't look good"

0-3 with an ERA above 9. What happened?

but he's doing some damage in winter ball...something like 5-1 with an ERA around 2 w/ lots of Ks.

Well it is a pretty small sample size, but that is why people are skeptic. They think at higher levels hitters will adjust better and won't be fooled. Don't ever put to much stock in winter ball numbers, it's nice to do well but overall it doesn't mean much.
