Not a huge shock as 'America's pastime' doesn't bring professional athletes to the table, so the sport isn't as popular in the Olympics.

BOOOOOOOOO!
:-t

Bunch of stupid European snobs. Just because you guys don't play the sport doesn't mean it should be eliminated. Professional players or not, baseball is still more popular than badminton or fencing! And its not like they dropped them to include another sport. What was the point then?

Yeah, it's not like the USA even qualified for the last Olympics.

I'm more disappointed they got rid of softball.

The sad thing from a British perspective is that this would have given us the opportunity to both increase the profile of the game over here, and have a purpose-built baseball stadium in London.

Not going to happen now :,-(

Didn't the news about Baseball being dropped from the Olympics come out a few months ago?

The IOC is just doing this because MLB won't interupt their season for three weeks like hockey.

If people think alot of teams are mad about losing their star players in march, wait until they loose them for three weeks in August...

The news came out the day after London won the vote. But today was the last chance for the decision to be overturned. 45 IOC delegates presented a petition asking for them to be reinstated, but the majority rejected the call.

When will the world learn... the olympics suck. I'm about as excited for the winter games as I am for the release of Brokeback Mountain 2.
