What do Americans Think of Canadian Teams?

I was just wondering whether or not you guys would consider a team like the Jays just another team, or a team accross the border. And, does it factor much into player's decisions to play here? I know it is a different country and all, but Toronto is really underrated I think. Using whatever criteria, I would put it in the top 5 of cities in North America...

This is coming from a proud Torontonian, but what do you guys think of my city and my country for that matter (in terms of how it affects the professional sports)?

I love Canada, and am glad the US govt decided not to ban them from the World Baseball Classic this spring. It really would've tarnished the event to not have a baseball powerhouse such as Canada in the competition. I am a little disappointed that Canadians are not better baseball fans. They are only able to support one MLB team. I would think players may be a little weary about playing in Canada due to the tax implications and lack of good Mexican restaurants. vr, Xei

Canada is OK in my book. The problem I have with the Blue Jays is I hate going to their games in KC because I know I'll have to listen to the extra National Anthem.

nothing against canada here. The one thing that bothers me is that they didnt support the expos. The team was on a great track when the strike hit. It cost them a shot at the series, and the fans never came back

Here Here. The Expos were the team of true Canadian baseball fans. Loved their of play and their players. I got into teh whoel Blue Jay ting when they were winnign the series. I was in the States when they won. Sorry boys, I did the whole driving aroudn Grand Forks with flag out the window. Maple leaf up BTW. I for one was really pissed in 1994. I stopped watching baseball until just last year. Maybe saw three games. I got into fantasy last year, and I am rejuvenated. Went on a huge baseball tour of cities and ballparks through the Mid West last summer. Hoping to do theEast Coast thing this summer.

I am still a Vlad fan from his Expos days. Watched him in Minnesota last year. As a catcher, I am growing fond of VMart as well.

I have never had any problems with Canada.
I don't like the fact that a great many of you speak so poorly of the US, and actually have an annual Anti-US political candidate that you vote into office becuase of that stance.

Its disguting quite honestly.
We have always been there for you, and we constantly get stabbed in the back by Canada.

as for the Blue Jays, I could care.
they would be just as good of a team playing in Memphis.

I've been to Toronto several times and think it's a fantastic city. One of my favorite that I've ever visited. I went to a Jays game and thoroughly enjoyed myself, and all the "natives" were very pleasant to me.

Also, that "Okay, Blue Jays!" song that you play is hilarious.
