Midwest Keeper League - Free Yahoo

Postby anter013 » Tue Feb 07, 2006 2:05 pm

We are starting a 12 team keeper league this year and need one final manager. Over the past three years we have had a 10 team single season league. This year we have decided to start a 4 year keeper league and increase the teams from 10 to 12. Everyone has experience and knows the game well, it should be highly competitive.

Below is the information on the league. Please email me at mailto:ant_flora@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Midwest Farm Keeper League – 2006 MODIFIED

The league would continue to be run in Yahoo, and off-season communicating would take place over email.

Head to Head league.

9 hitting categories and 8 pitching categories. They are as follows; Hitting- batting average, runs, hits, doubles, home runs, rbi, stolen bases, walks, and strikeouts. Pitching- innings pitched, wins, losses, era, whip, strikeouts, walks, and saves.

Postions- Catcher, 1b, 2b, 3b, SS, OF, OF, OF, Utility. SP, SP, RP, RP, P.

Number of teams will be 12.

League would run for four years. If for instance after two or three years someone had such a commanding lead that no one else had a shot, the league could vote to immediately crown them Midwest Farm League champions, and redraft.

Keepers- After the first year, 8 players would be kept on each team, 12 after the second, and 14 after the third. This would be out of a roster of 21. Of course you don’t have to keep the players you kept from the off-season all year, they are just the players that you go into the draft with.

Never more than 75% of a team’s keepers may be hitters or pitchers. So for instance, out of 8 kept players no more than 6 hitters or 6 pitchers could be kept. With 12 it would be no more than 9 and with 14 it would be no more than 10. Also, no more than 2 players at an infield position may be kept. So someone could not keep 3 second basemen (a player with multiple eligibility can count for whatever the manager chooses). This would not apply to outfielders or pitchers. This is to promote balance in the league.

If during a draft, a team wished to draft a player not yet on a major league roster, they could do that; they would just have to carry an empty spot on their roster until that player was called up.

Trades will be open to league voting for vetoing (same as this year). This should only be used if a manager feels a trade is unfair from an unbiased standpoint, not if they feel they have a better chance of winning if it doesn’t go through. If they choose, they can ask to the managers to explain their reasoning behind they trade.

The DL slot will increase from one to two. This means that if your top gun goes down for the year (say Albert Pujols, whom you wouldn’t drop), you would still have another DL slot. If two big guns go down, than that’s just unlucky.

After the first year, when choosing keepers, they will need to be turned in several weeks before the draft, in order for people to be aware of who will be there. A method should be thought of where people would turn their keepers in before seeing everyone else’s keepers in order to keep things fair.

After each year, if a team has dropped the ball and not kept up with them, than that team can be expelled and the roster given to another manager.

DRAFT!
Sunday March 5th or Sunday March 12th

AT 3 PM EASTERN TIME.

A yahoo online draft will be used.
