I'm wondering if this was the right move for the Reds. Casey was one of the fan favorites there and now he’s gone. :-?

Getting rid of Casey saves the Reds $8M and got them a low-end SP, like they need more of those. However, when you take the saved money and use it to re-sign Aurilia and sign Tony Womack then you're throwing it away. So if the Reds used the money wisely then saving $8M for the production Casey was giving them was a good idea. i.e. towards a LTC for Dunn

I suppose as long as its not spent on less average players. I wonder if the Reds this season will start to make some moves and get going on their future rather then just sitting back.

nothing against casey, because i'm sure he's a really nice guy, but he's not top-tier baseball talent. this town loves him because he's a great guy. the reds have gradually coached their fanbase into rooting for a pleasant trip to the ballpark. baseball, for the past 10 years, has been an afterthought.

and yes, moving casey was long overdue.

the firing of o'brien and hiring of krivsky are two huge steps in the right direction.

Amen. It's nice to at least have a little hope for a change. Maybe Krivsky can pitch :-)
