Where have you gone, MissAgnes?

Someone just dropped Linebrink in my league, but I don't know how to make room for him on my roster. I have BJ Ryan, Valverde, Jenks, Otsuka, Duchscherer, R. Soriano, and Orvella on my team as relievers.

Any progress on that updated list?

Sorry, SuperManny, got nailed at work, then my uncle died, so I've been a little crunched. With Otsuka now getting you saves and the possibility that Soriano might, too, I'd take a serious look at dropping Orvella and grabbing Linebrink. If you caount holds that's a slam dunk. If not, then I'd make that decision based on how competitive you are in saves/WHIP/ERA. If you really can make up the most points in saves, I'd keep Orvella. If the Texas and possibly Seattle changes mean you'll be competitive there, I'd swap Orvella for Linebrink to help on WHIP and ERA.

GotowarMissAgnes...

So sorry to hear about your uncle, and my sincere condolences.

Yes, my league does count holds. My only hesitation in dropping Orvella outright for Linebrink is the fact that closers hold more value in trade offers than middle relievers. Ever since my draft, my strategy has been grooming set-up men as closers-in-waiting (while collecting their holds), as is evident by having Otsuka, Soriano, and Orvella on my roster. I'm then hoping to upgrade several weaker spots on my roster through dealing one or two of these guys once they start closing.

As far as my WHIP and ERA numbers go, I'm first in my ten-team roto league in both categories, 2.95 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. I am 4th in saves with 16 (leader has 24) and 4th in holds with 5 (leader has 8).

Let's have some compassion here, please. GTWMA just had family pass away, so let's be a little more aware that there are things in this world more important than a silly game.

Let's also remember that this fine member of the Cafe is doing us a FAVOR in doing so much hard work so that we may benefit, and for free, nonetheless.

GTWMA will update when he is good and ready to do so. In the meantime, relax. Scour the WW for holds guys.

Thanks, guys, I am trying. This is the toughest time of the year for me, because I work at PSU. I may be able to do it this weekend, and then after that school's out and I can try to be more regular.

No problems MissAgness. But any longer than this weekend and we will hunt you down at PSU starting on Monday. Or just troll the WW for guys w/ holds. You know, 6 in one, half dozen in the other.

I need to have one RP in my lineup that is also an SP, so that I have someone to put in there when none of my SPs are pitching.

Right now I have J Kennedy (Oak). I was thinking about picking up Dessens (KC). Even though he is on KC, he has just as many Holds as Kennedy, and he has a lot more ks. Also, while his ERA is higher than Kennedy, his WHIP is lower. WHIP is usually what I go by. Kennedy's high WHIP tells me that he might be getting lucky right now. Their BAA is about the same. It should be noted that Dessens has had a bad couple of games the last two days.

I was just noticing I could also pick up Benoit of Texas. His stats look pretty good, but he wasn't used much this past week, which has me wondering.

Do you think I should drop Kennedy for either Dessens or Benoit?

Thanks.

Some people are tempting the Hamster!

But where else are you going to get thrilling Holds talk with consistent bumps?

We await your results with patience and interest, GTWMA.
