I think if this happens Pat Gillick should be institutionalized.

yeah i fully agree, but both contreras and dye are both FA's at the end of the season, rather than abreu's 39 million for 3 more years....i guess thats what hes thinking but we shall see.. :-?

IMO this is a terrible trade for the phillies, abreu is better than dye and even though abreu is old so is dye. floyd also has a lot of potential and can be a quality pitcher in a couple of years down the road

man if this went thru - the chisox would be a POWERHOUSE.

imagine that order -

podsednik
Uribe
Abreu
Konerko
Thome
Iguchi
Anderson
Pierzymski
Crede

It's not the AL East powerhouse type, but it's hard to find a better hitting team in the AL central or west.......

lol nevermind that, even the Whitesox have the top 3 best pitching teams in the MLB with the additions the made over the offseason. "Quite Frankly" this team could scare everyone for a long time with the moves they have been making.

Wow, we must be really scared about Gavin Floyd's blowup last season...the guy could pitch the year before, I don't know what happened though. And Abreu's contract is not as bloated as it seems. All we need is to trade our star RF to clear budget space. Who is Pat Gillick, the Marlins GM?

What do you call this?

1998—Scott Brosius, New York (AL)

I'm pretty sure he's a washed up has been that managed to become the mvp... Anyway, I don't think Dye is a washed up has been, but being the WS MVP isn't the same as being the AL or NL MVP. You only have to be good for a couple games to get it and even a washed up has been can get a hot bat.
