Snake Draft vs. Auction

I've played fantasy baseball for a few years, and i've done a snake draft every time. This year my league is deciding whether to do an auction or a snake. I have no experience with auction drafts, but im intrigued by the idea. Which do all of you prefer, and would I be able to learn how to properly do an auction in a little under a month?

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Auction is better if everyone in your league really knows baseball and is into fantasy enough to come prepared for it.

Snake is better if the league is a bit more casual about fantasy and about baseball in general.

Everyone in the league is extremely competitive and knowledgeable. They all take it seriously and would come prepared. My only problem is, i'm not sure if i'd be at a huge disadvantage seeing as i've never had any experience with an auction.

That's what my league has heard and we are making the big jump to auction this year. I've never done an auction fantasy draft, but have picked up a lot on the Cafe.

I believe as long as you do your research then you'll be fine. I think the hardest part will be translating value into dollars adn there are some articles on this...See the Advanced FAQs

Until I do a live auction, I will never know which is better. The only auctions I've done are online and quite boring. There's just something about snake drafts that are dear to my heart.

I've never done an auction draft either, but I'm very interested in participating in my first this year. Generally I put in considerate preparation for snake drafts, but for this upcoming (and possibly offline) auction draft I'm going to have to prepare big time. While I may be at a disadvantage given my history in drafts, there are others in my league who are in the same situation as I am so I should do fine.

i have only done live auctions in one league for over a decade and love it but i am participating in a mock snake here at the cafe and am really enjoying it ...an auction does have a more intense strategy where preparation, quick thinking and attention to detail can really pay off...i love the high wire w/o a net balancing act that an auction brings..as one guy says in his sig.."10 bad minutes can ruin months of preparation"

Ive done auctions for the first time this year and have grown a huge preference toward the auction rather than the draft. Anything is possible in an auction
