For those of you who's teams have a retractable roof, What percentage of the time is the roof opened versus closed?

I think it would depend where the park is... I'm sure the SkyDome is open less than Bank One (or whatever the Arizon stadium is called now) is.

The Tampa bay roof is always close. I don't get it. If a team stinks that bad, you would think they'd want to air them out.

Seriously, KC is putting to the voters about putting a rolling roof that could be moved from Arrowhead back to Kaufman stadium.

The price tag for this roof is over $200 million.

Am I alone in thinking if you are spending this much, why not start over and build a new park?

Houston closes the roof if its over like 80 or 85 degrees, which is every game.

They could do with building a new team! Seriously, spread that $200m over 4 years and try for a championship or two. That'll get more fans in than a new flippin roof.

From what I understand, KC is pretty attached to their fountains at Kauffman... it's also the only baseball-only stadium built during the cookie-cutter, hybrid debacle of 60's. I can't wait to see Shea get demolished... or can I? :~( :~( :~( :~( :~(

Brewers close it a lot early and late in the season because of rain/coldness, its open a lot mid season. They'll play with it closed sometimes if its not raining but rain is in the forecast, they don't like to open/close it during the game unless they have to.

In today's world (other than SF) what team has actually built a stadium with their own money?
The roof is the KC Chiefs idea (not the Royals). The NFL has promised KC a Super Bowl if it has a roof. So, it is the Chiefs ownership trying to ram this rolling roof down the taxpayers throats.

The Rogers Centre (SkyDome) is open on sunny days and some nice night games. Depending if it's a nice day in Toronto, you can bet it's going to be open.
