Just another data point: Wright credited Mazzone for his single spectacular season in ATL as well.

"I don't think it's going to be a big deal at all, Leo was great; don't get me wrong. But at this level, there's not a whole lot of coaching going on. It's more like a lot of brain massaging."
Those are Tim Hudson's words, from just a few days ago. I tend to agree with him. Leo is a fantastic coach not doubt, but the effect on the Braves will be minimal. I do think though that he will help the Orioles. Its not like the guys down in Atlanta are going to forget what they learned from him

That most say something... If you listen to the Braves pitchers there is nary a one who will say he is saddend by the departure of the long time Braves assistant.
If Mazzone was really as good as people give him credit for, wouldn't they be unhappy?
Not necessarily. Can't you hate a guy who makes you better?

he has them pitch more I believe, which is fairly unorthodox.
"One of the things most remarked upon is Mazzone's unique throwing program. In other organizations, the standard for starting pitchers is to throw once off the mound between starts. In Atlanta, starters throw twice off the mound between starts."
