10-15 minutes. SOTU and mostly garbage anyways, at least for me. i pay attention to stuff all the time so he's not going to tell me anything new and i know he won't tell me what i want to hear b/c he has to propose politically feasible ideas, not ideas that work. I have better things to do.
as Patrick Bateman once said, "I can't take the time off work."
or as Patrick Bateman also said, "I have to return some videotapes."

I agree with everything except the Patrick Bateman references, which might actually fit given the speaker...
I also had a good chuckle when the Dems all stood up and applauded after Bush said that they hadn't passed his plan to save Social Security.
By the way, the official transcripts seem to be off. I thought Bush said something to the effect, "They miscalculated. We love our liberty, and we will fight for it." I can't find that on any of the published transcripts.
Eh. I can handle a politician giving a staged, self-serving and factually dubious speech now and again, but not for a whole hour. The fact that I don't think Bush is a very good president doesn't help either. The important stuff is how his comments translate to real policy later on, and I imagine I won't like those results any more than I like watching the SOTU.
Although it can be fun to watch the political gamesmanship, if that's your thing.

Bro, you're looking for truth in all the wrong places.

This is pretty much the same boat I'm in. Only I have to watch it because of my job. State of the Union Addresses wouldn't be nearly as bad if the president could just give his speach, it's the constant interruptions for gratuitous applause that kills it.
